Treasurer – Special Projects Intern Jobs in Salt Lake City, USA at Salt Lake County
The Treasurer’s Office is seeking a Special Projects Intern for Summer 2026. This internship is well-suited for applicants with a strong interest in policy and demonstrated skills in research, analysis, project management, and translating complex technical or legal information into clear, actionable documents. The intern will assist with developing and refining written office policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state statute, and will oversee an initiative to transition the office from paper-based records to digital documentation in compliance with County retention schedules.
Responsibilities may include document scanning, establishing digital filing systems, and ensuring the office’s records management procedures align with statutory requirements. The position is primarily Monday through Friday, with flexible hours to accommodate academic schedules. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate program.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and synthesize research to inform policy development and project outcomes.
- Support the development and implementation of office policies and procedures.
- Aid in the creation and implementation of a digital documentation project.
- Aid in the creation and implementation of the office policies and procedures project.
- Apply office visual style guides to ensure consistency and design integrity.
- Collaborate with members of the Treasurer’s Office and external partners.
- Manage tasks efficiently to keep projects on schedule.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Consistent demonstration of responsibility and initiative.
- Ability to complete tasks under deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and dependable.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 products (especially SharePoint), Smartsheet, and project management software.
- Data analytical skills to analyze project goals, ongoing metrics, and results.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused and timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Students with a focus in accounting, business, economics, or public policy are preferred, but all applicants are welcome.
Pay $18/hour
Start Date The internship begins in May 2025 (start date flexible) and ends in August 2025. There may be the possibility of an extension.

Working Conditions
Intern will work onsite from the Salt Lake County Government Complex within the state of Utah. They will be provided with a computer and an email account. Intern may be asked to attend meetings off-site or at other government facilities. Interns may be sitting for long periods of time at a computer.
