Specialist Palliative Care Administrator – Peterborough
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time administrator to work as part of, and to support, the Peterborough and Stamford’s Specialist Palliative Care Hospital and Community Team, this post includes:
- To provide efficient and comprehensive administrative support to the Peterborough and Stamford’s Specialist Palliative Care Community and Hospital Teams.
- To perform all allocated clerical tasks required to meet the needs of the service.
- To undergo training as necessary to meet the needs of new developments within the specialist service.
- Managing individual workload in order to meet project deadlines assigned to the post holder.
- Adaptable to change management.
- Excellent team player with good communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, motivated, ability to prioritise and work independently.
- To support the Administrative Team Leader for the Specialist Nursing Team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:

- Be responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out in accordance with the correct procedures and policies.
- Support the Lead Palliative and End of Life Nurse and the specialist team in developing the service and maintaining all its standards in line with NICE measures.
- Support workloads within the speciality.
- Maintain up to date records as requested by individual team members with regard to patient information.
- Actively take part in team meetings; including agenda setting, minute taking, room booking and ensuring meetings are attended by relevant staff by organising dates well in advance and communicating to all appropriate staff.
- Prepare documentation ready for the specialist palliative MDT weekly and facilitate these meetings.
- Deal sensitively and effectively with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives and colleagues.
- Ensure that data collection complies with the Caldicott and the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR).

Person Specification Education/Knowledge and Qualifications
- Passion and enthusiasm for working in an environment/team of palliative and End Of Life work.
- Educated to GSCE level Grade A-C (or equivalent) one of which needs to include English language and maths.
Experience
- Organising meetings including minute taking.
- Experience of working under pressure, prioritising work and meeting deadlines.
Skills and Abilities
- Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates desire to improve knowledge.
- Strong organisational skills and flexible approach.
- Demonstrates dissemination of own knowledge to others.
- Experience of using NHS IT systems including:
Systm One, Medway, e-Track, Anglia ICE, Epro.
Other Requirements
- Self motivated and ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
