Job Overview
We are seeking to hire a reliable, energetic, cheerful, and compassionate Medical Assistant/Receptionist to perform various office and clinical duties to keep our geriatric practice running efficiently and smoothly. Our Medical Assistant/Receptionist will perform the following administrative duties as well as patient and physician support tasks while maintaining strict confidentiality:
· Front office medical receptionist tasks such as answering telephones, making appointments (and processing that into Outlook), greeting patients as they enter the facility, processing the patients files, providing all medical forms to the patients (electronically or in print outs) and making sure all forms are signed by the patients and entered into our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, making copies of the patient’s most up to date insurance information and entering it into our EMR, collecting all payments, returning voicemails, processing all faxes, etc.
· Keeping the reception area tidy, organized, and presentable.
· Keep waiting and examining rooms neat, clean and well supplied.
· Working under the supervision of the Office Manager to process all new patients
· Bookkeeping
· Obtain, maintain and update patient records and test results and enter all in our EMR system
· Cleaning and preparing examination rooms prior to patient appointments. Dispose of contaminated supplies and arrange examining-room instruments and equipment.
· Measuring and recording patient’s vital signs and weight, getting patient’s medical history as well as recording changes in patient’s medical history chart and entering all up to date information into our EMR, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physicians during the examination.
· Preparing and administering vaccines for patients as directed by physicians
· Obtain, maintain and update patient records and test results and enter all in our EMR system
· Refilling all patient’s medication.
· Arranging hospital admission, imaging, and laboratory orders.
· Transitioning hard copy medical records of patients into digital formats in our EMR
· Maintaining a medical inventory of all medical supplies and preparing a list for the supplies which need to be ordered.
· Delivering compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients and families.
· Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Skills Required
· Associate degree in a medical field (bachelor degree or equivalent)
· 2+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice or hospital
· Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistance practice scope
· High level of professionalism and superior work ethics
· Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems
· Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
· Very strong customer service skills. Our practice is a geriatric office and it is essential for the Medical Assistant to show kindness, patience, cheerfulness, and courtesy. She/he should put patients at ease and explain physician instructions clearly.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· A strong team player
· Medical Assistance will deal with the public every day; therefore, she/he must be neat and well groomed (in a Medical Assistant uniform) and have a courteous, pleasant manner.
· Being flexible and a multitasker
Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
