Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to attorneys across various practice areas, ensuring smooth and efficient legal operations. Your expertise in legal documentation, research and case management will be instrumental in helping our firm deliver exceptional service to clients.

Duties

  • Manage and maintain legal case files using document management systems such as MyCase, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery materials, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail
  • Schedule appointments, court dates, client meetings, and coordinate logistics for hearings or depositions while managing calendars for multiple attorneys
  • Assist with interviewing clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for cases
  • Prepare and organize documents for trial or hearings; review documents for relevance and accuracy during litigation processes
  • Provide executive administrative support including data entry, filing, transcription, proofreading, phone etiquette management, and organizational tasks to ensure operational efficiency
  • Answer phones and assist attorneys and staff with daily operations

Preferred

  • Proven experience as a legal secretary or paralegal with strong familiarity in legal case management systems such as MyCase
  • Knowledge of legal research tools including Westlaw and LexisNexis across various practice areas
  • Demonstrated expertise in legal drafting, document review, proofreading, transcription, and contract preparation
  • Familiarity with a broad range of practice areas including estate planning, criminal and family law
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to perform legal research and compile findings clearly and concisely
  • Clerical experience including data entry and filing; familiarity with document management systems is preferred
  • High level of professionalism with a proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail
