About The Role

The Lab Assistant (Data Entry Representative I) in Tucker, GA, is a vital role within the Specimen Processing Department. This position primarily involves accurate data entry related to patient and client information, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data in compliance with HIPAA regulations. The role requires working in a fast-paced production environment, with a focus on maintaining high standards of quality and productivity. The shift is scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 AM to 9:30 AM, offering an opportunity to work during the night hours. Compensation includes an hourly rate starting at $17.75, with potential shift differentials of 10% for second shift and 15% for third shift, along with eligibility for performance bonuses and other benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Prior experience in data entry, preferably in a production or laboratory environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and transcribe information accurately
  • Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or similar software is a plus
  • Physical ability to sit for long periods and visually interpret information
  • Ability to maintain composure and efficiency under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Accurately determine and verify client account numbers, patient demographics, and order codes for entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Perform all data entry functions efficiently and within designated timeframes
  • Ensure all requisitions are completed with precision, maintaining data integrity
  • Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and organizational compliance policies
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote efficiency and safety
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of specimen processing workflows and how all functions integrate
  • Meet or exceed departmental productivity and accuracy standards, aiming for 100% accuracy within six months
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall laboratory operations
  • Continuously develop knowledge of compliance policies and procedures related to specimen processing
