Program Assistant – Nutrition Services Jobs in Ontario at Community Care Northumberland
Reporting to the Manager, Nutrition Services, the Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the Nutrition Services offered by the agency in accordance with the mission statement, vision and values. The position supports the Manager, Nutrition Services in achieving departmental goals, including budget and fundraising targets, and compliance with all appropriate legislated standards. The position works collaboratively with Community Care Northumberland staff and volunteers, ensuring that Northumberland County residents receive the support and services required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively assists the Manager, Nutrition Services, in the development and coordination of programs within the Nutrition Services portfolio including but not limited to: Meals on Wheels and Congregate Dining.
- Effectively assisting the Manager, Nutrition Services in day-to-day operations, client activities, and agency programs to meet the organization’s vision and mission.
- Monitoring community and client service needs and supporting in the development of recommendations for program/service expansion or enhancement.Securing supplies and other resources necessary for the delivery of service in a cost-effective manner.
- Supporting the Office Administrator in carrying out monthly financial duties related to invoicing, payments and banking.
- Monitoring clients ensuring appropriate placement in programs to meet ongoing needs.
- Referring clients and/or their caregivers to appropriate community agencies ensuring their needs are met in a sensitive manner.
- Contributing to an accurate and positive community image through interactions with partners.
- When required, representing the agency at relevant area networking meetings and community development events.
- Ensuring relevant information is collected to comply with Ministry of Health reporting standards and other related legislation.
- Participating on committees providing input and ideas for furthering the strategic direction of the agency.
Key Qualifications:
- Recognized post-secondary certificate or a combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2 years’ direct or related experience
- First Aid/CPR Training Certificate is an asset
- Health and safety policy knowledge
- Experience in client centered planning
- Computer skills in MS office and databases
- Strong organizational skills and focus to manage competing priorities
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Starting salary range: $21.94 – $23.27
