Playgroup & Office Assistant Jobs in Great Barrington at Pediatric Development Center
The Playgroup & Office Coordinator supports PDC’s weekly children’s playgroups while helping keep our Great Barrington office running smoothly. This position combines direct interaction with children and families with administrative and organizational responsibilities.
The successful candidate is warm, energetic, organized, comfortable using technology, and able to respond calmly and appropriately with all different types of people.
Essential ResponsibilitiesPlaygroup Support
- Prepare the playgroup space before each session by setting up toys, activities, and materials.
- Assist Early Intervention clinicians in facilitating engaging, developmentally appropriate playgroups for infants, toddlers, and their caregivers.
- Welcome families and help create a positive, inclusive environment.
- Encourage children’s participation through play and positive interactions.
- Clean, sanitize, and reset the playgroup space after each session.
- Help maintain toys, equipment, and program materials.
Office Support
- Answer incoming phone calls and greet visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Order office and program supplies.
- Make copies, prepare materials, and assist with administrative tasks.
- Keep office spaces organized, stocked, and welcoming.
- Arrange and meet maintenance personnel, contractors, or deliveries as needed.
- Assist with other office duties that support the Great Barrington team.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable using computers and technology, including Microsoft Office, email, and web-based applications.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Friendly, dependable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Essential Physical & Cognitive Requirements
This position requires an individual who is able to:
- Lift, carry, and move playgroup materials, toys, and supplies.
- Frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, and move throughout the play space.
- Sit on the floor with children and independently transition from the floor to a standing position multiple times during each playgroup.
- Actively engage with infants and toddlers through play and movement.
- Maintain awareness of multiple children, caregivers, and activities occurring simultaneously.
- Respond quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergency or unexpected situations, using good judgment and sound decision-making.
- Adapt to changing situations while maintaining a safe environment for children, families, and staff.
Schedule
This is a 20-hour-per-week position.
Tuesday mornings are required to support our weekly children’s playgroups. The remaining weekly hours offer flexibility and will be scheduled collaboratively with the supervisor.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
