Facilities Services ensures the efficient operation, safety, and sustainability of the university’s physical infrastructure. We oversee maintenance, repairs, energy systems, and strategic planning to create a functional and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate submission of department payroll records and related documentation.

About the Role

The incumbent maintains a variety of departmental payroll records for approximately 125 employees. Refers to a variety of union agreements, submits time and exceptions for
both salaried and hourly staff and answers payroll-related inquiries from SFU Payroll, Human Resources and Facilities Services (FS) staff members. Provides occasional back-up to the Customer Service unit during periods of unexpected staff absences.

Qualifications

High-school graduation and general courses or training of moderate duration (one semester equivalent) including courses or training in computerized record-keeping, database, and spreadsheet applications. 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study ad experience is acceptable.

  • 50 wpm keyboarding skill with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use computerized timekeeping and maintenance management systems, and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Peoplesoft, CMMS, MS Excel) at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to use word processing applications (e.g., MS Word) at a basic level.
  • Ability to complete a high volume of work within deadlines, while dealing with frequent interruptions.
