Position: Dispatcher – Central Transport
Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Warehouse and Distribution, the Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, recording and charging out all requests for deliveries or pickups of supplies, equipment, courier service, specimens, x-rays, requisitions, etc., and dispatching porters, messengers and supply attendants to respond to these calls. The dispatcher also performs problem‑solving relating to immediate issues; performs receptionist and clerical duties;
initiates and updates unit orders; compiles statistics; assigns staff; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Six (6) months related office experience, plus;
- Six (6) months experience in an area where medical/surgical supplies are handled.
OR
- Six (6) months experience in the Messenger classification.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12, or recognized equivalent.
Qualifications And Skills
- Data entry speed: 65 numerical keystrokes per minute.
- Ability to work in a Windows operating environment.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Polite and courteous telephone manner.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with accuracy.
Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
