Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) ensuring patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and records management.
  • Operate electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical history.
  • Provide vital signs measurements and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, especially in pediatric dentistry cases.
  • Manage administrative tasks including answering the dental receptionist phone line, scheduling appointments, and maintaining organized medical records.
  • Support the use of advanced technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to ensure accurate documentation and communication within the team.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting or general dentistry practice is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and infection control procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical documentation standards.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
  • Certification or training in infection control practices and aseptic technique is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and specialists in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics. Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour
