Position Title: Dental Assistant (Cross-Trained)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Patient Care Representative is the face of Secure Dental, greeting patients and performing clerical tasks within the practice to support daily operations. The Dental Assistant at Secure Dental is a key member of the team, working closely with our dentists to ensure a dynamic and memorable patient experience.
This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of exceptional dental care through the preparation of treatment rooms, instruments, and materials, and assisting the dental provider as needed. The Dental Assistant is the patient’s advocate throughout their dental experience, providing meaningful patient feedback with compassion.

OBJECTIVES
Patient Care Representative Responsibilities
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer and manage incoming calls, routing to the appropriate department when necessary
- Schedule and adjust patient appointments to maximize patient care and achieve practice profit targets; make appointment reminder calls to maximize patient flow
- Establish and maintain patient files and keep them up to date; review patient documents, process registrations, and enter information into the system; research and verify insurance benefits; record treatment information in patient charts
- Communicate financial options; process cash and card payments via POS systems; reconcile and record daily payments
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk and reception area
- Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Dental Assistant Responsibilities
- Create a positive and individualized experience for each patient
- Build rapport with patients to ensure a memorable smile
- Schedule patient appointments while accommodating potential scheduling conflicts
- Prepare dental materials and equipment for scheduled treatments
- Function as a treatment coordinator, preparing and presenting treatment plans to patients
- Maintain dental instruments, supplies, equipment inventory, and other ancillary duties
- Assist with patient management during dental procedures
- Proactively support team members and pods
- Complete instrument cleaning and sterilization, and post-operative sanitization of treatment rooms
- Collect and record patient health history
- Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management

COMPETENCIES
- Understand dental terminology, how to read radiographs, and explain basic procedures
- Experience successfully maintaining a positive attitude while working in a team environment with competing priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in interactions with patients and team members
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Windows, and Dental software systems
- Outstanding organizational and administrative accountability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and create documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and written correspondence
- General dentistry knowledge
- Ability to be flexible and accept different work assignments within the practice, including occasional travel to other locations, with a positive attitude
- Ability to think independently as well as collaboratively when approaching responsibilities
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, dependability, and punctuality
- Ability to exercise confidentiality with patients and patient care information
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 1 year of front desk experience in a medical or dental office
- Minimum 1 year of dental experience
- Spanish language proficiency
Preferred
- Prophy and sealant experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk using a computer
- Ability to lift at least 15 pounds

- Reliable transportation required
- Must be willing to travel occasionally and work weekends
