The Clinic Receptionist provides indirect patient care in the medical office/clinic setting. Greets and registers patients. Verifies patient demographic and insurance information. Performs clerical duties. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, medical office/clinic staff and the medical staff.

Responsibilities:
- Registers all patients, gives new patients medical forms to complete.
- Offers access to patient portal and records in computer system for tracking.
- Verifies patient demographic, employment and insurance information and scans all insurance information.
- Explains billing policies, collects copayments, refers patients without insurance to the PFS Department.
- Calls all patients to verify appointments.
- Prepares encounter slips daily for the following day.
- Schedules new and return appointments; explains registration process and gives directions to new patients; may explain procedure preparation to patients.
- Answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner; takes messages; directs calls to appropriate staff members.
- Maintains patient schedule each day inputs demographics for new patients.
- Maintains daily patient log.
- Collects payments, writes receipts. Records all incoming payments onto a form for processing.
- Maintains a good working relationship with medical office/clinic staff members and providers.
- Requests medical records as needed and maintains log.
- Scans documents to the EMR.
- Sends all requested medical records per policy and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- One year experience in a medical office setting.
- Basic computer knowledge
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing: bilingual preferred.
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit(s) area(s) or assignment.
- Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression.
- Ability and willingness to work with patients’ growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patients in the unit(s) area(s) of assignment.
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
