Summary

Assist professional individuals and the general public with researching public records with the use of computers. Provide assistance in understanding computer data and legal documents. Provide certified copies and scan new plat documents upon request and collect fees as appropriate. Assist in maintaining computer and copy equipment. Provide efficient, courteous service to customers both on the phone and in person.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists and instruct customers on the use of public browse terminals, recording software applications and computerized indices.
  • Produces and certifies copies of records upon request.
  • Scans Plats, Condominiums and Deed Record Exhibits into recording software applications.
  • Assists customers in person and by phone with using the County Clerk's website.
  • Assists attorneys, title companies and the public with procedural and recording questions for data retrieval.
  • Processes mail requests.
  • Balances cash registers and prepares daily deposits and accounting reports for Recording Management Staff and the Accounting Manager. Deposits are usually between $1000 and $2000.
  • Performs all cashier duties which includes collecting fees and generating reports.
  • Answers telephone inquiries about recorded documents, fees, policies etc.
  • Assists public with property title questions.
  • Explains the different types of real estate documents, terms and procedures.
  • Maintains a general working knowledge of the agencies and departments that use the escrow system.
  • Makes deposits for customers using Escrow Accounts.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) full-time year clerical and customer service experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, and a working knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Must demonstrate adequate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual skills helpful and preferred.
  • Must exhibit appropriate office demeanor, be able to work well with others, and have the ability to multi-task in a high-stress environment.
  • Must be bondable.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, stoop, push and pull.
