The primary purpose of the Unit Clerk position is to be responsible for the management of clerical tasks, activities and coordination of unit/service area communication and information. This role supports the care teams, provides

communication between departments and maintains an organized, functional desk/station. The competent functioning of the Unit Clerk is evident by meticulously maintained patient charts. Clear, respectful and efficient communication with patient/families, physicians, departments and unit staff, as well as a neat, organized station/desk.
High School Diploma or GED/College Degree/Courses preferred. One (1) year of experience in general clerical duties is required. Medical terminology course is desirable. PC literacy required. BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Effective interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
