The primary purpose of the Unit Clerk position is to manage clerical tasks and activities and coordinate unit/service area communication and information. This role supports care teams, provides communication between departments, and maintains an organized desk/station. The effective Unit Clerk demonstrates meticulously maintained patient charts and clear, respectful, and efficient communication with patients/families, physicians, departments, and unit staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage clerical tasks and activities and coordinate unit/service area communication and information.
  • Support care teams and provide communication between departments.
  • Maintain an organized desk/station and ensure meticulously maintained patient charts.
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and efficiently with patients/families, physicians, departments, and unit staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; college degree/courses preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in general clerical duties required.
  • PC literacy and basic computer skills required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills; ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
