The primary purpose of the Unit Clerk position is to manage clerical tasks and activities and coordinate unit/service area communication and information. This role supports care teams, provides communication between departments, and maintains an organized desk/station. The effective Unit Clerk demonstrates meticulously maintained patient charts and clear, respectful, and efficient communication with patients/families, physicians, departments, and unit staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage clerical tasks and activities and coordinate unit/service area communication and information.
- Support care teams and provide communication between departments.
- Maintain an organized desk/station and ensure meticulously maintained patient charts.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and efficiently with patients/families, physicians, departments, and unit staff.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; college degree/courses preferred.
- One (1) year of experience in general clerical duties required.
- PC literacy and basic computer skills required.
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
