Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Surgical Coordinator specializing in Orthopedic Surgery to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, medical administrative support, and patient care coordination. The Surgical Coordinator will serve as a vital link between surgeons, patients, and the medical office team, ensuring efficient scheduling, documentation, and communication throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate pre-operative assessments, scheduling surgeries, and post-operative follow-up appointments to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Manage all aspects of surgical documentation review, including medical records, care plans, and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems to input data, track insurance authorization progress, and generate reports.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits through a detail insurance verification processes .
- Facilitate communication between patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette.
- Secure surgery authorization to ensure proper billing and reimbursement.
- Maintain accurate medical records, handle filing tasks efficiently using digital systems and support medical billing operations.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries promptly, managing intake procedures, and supporting front desk activities such as appointment scheduling and office management.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines during all documentation review and data handling processes while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Support clinic operations by performing clerical duties including typing and generating surgery reports, following the department regulatory standards, and assisting with insurance verification processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical administrative support within a clinical setting; orthopedic surgery experience preferred.
- Strong EMR experience.
- Insurance authorization experience required.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology related to orthopedic surgery and general healthcare practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage medical records accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; experience with office management is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel is required.

Pay: $24.00 – $29.00 per hour
