Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surger/Procedure Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical office operations and medical terminology. As a Surgery Scheduler, you will be responsible for coordinating patient appointments such as pre-ops , managing provider schedules, and ensuring smooth administrative workflows within a busy clinical environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through efficient scheduling and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments accurately across multiple departments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification as needed.
- Manage appointment changes, cancellations, and follow-up scheduling in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient demographics , including data entry, updating medical records, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of electronic and paper documents in accordance with health information management standards.
- Provide exceptional patient service by demonstrating professional phone etiquette, addressing inquiries promptly, and supporting front desk operations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and ensure timely delivery of services in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical scheduling or administrative support within a healthcare environment; clinic office experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
- Strong computer skills as well as medical terminology desired.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and team members; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
