The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well-being of all NorthCarolinians.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) implements quality standards for child care andincreases access to families and their children across North Carolina. NCGS 110-85 requires that the State protectchildren in child care facilities by ensuring that these facilities provide a physically safe and healthy environment where the developmental needs of the children are met and where these children are cared for by qualified persons of good moral character.

The primary responsibilities of an Administrative Specialist I position is to provide direct administrative support to the home-based staff within the Regulatory Services Section. This position will manage the processing,distribution and tracking of administrative action documents, and case closure documents, including legal notices.The position is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the required data entry fields, verifying supporting documentation for licensing violations and verifying that all relevant information is in the abuse/neglect or master files. The position is also responsible for general office duties to support the work of the Branch which includes,massmailing projects, and emailing/copying/scanning/faxingrequests.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Experience in an office assistant or secretaria role
Working knowledge in processing documents, using correct grammar, vocabulary, and spelling to compose and/or proofread correspondence,reports,and other materials
Working knowledge in following established procedures for tracking documents, and processing and maintaining records/files

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
