Job description:
We are seeking a professional responsible for integrating critical functions in accounts payable, general accounting, and tax compliance, while also supporting the payroll process. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and controlled execution of payments to vendors; performs general ledger account reconciliations; analyzes variances and prepares accounting adjustments as needed; and supports tax compliance (sales and use tax and payroll-related obligations). The position contributes to operational continuity and the financial close in compliance with the company’s policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Essential Duties:
- Reconciles key accounts, including accounts payable, internal accounts receivable, inventory in transit, accrued expenses, payroll accounts, sales tax (IVU), and cost accounts
- Analyzes segment margins, validates data integrity, and identifies variances and root causes
- Documents variances and prepares accounting adjustments as needed
- Verifies supporting documentation for invoices, receipts, and approvals in the system
- Prepares and files monthly sales and use tax (IVU) returns
- Processes payroll in the absence of the assigned personnel
- Prepares quarterly tax filings (e.g., 941-PR, 499R-1B) as needed
- Prepares journal entries related to payments, accruals, and reconciliations
- Identifies process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and strengthen internal controls
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives, standardization efforts, and ERP optimization
- Monitors and investigates red flags in AP, payroll, and accounting transactions
- Identifies and documents unusual trends or anomalies in financial data for investigation and correction
- Ensures proper organization and retention of supporting documentation for audits and reviews
- Supports fraud risk assessment in procurement, payments, close, and payroll processes, proposing preventive controls
- Develop and updates operational procedures (SOPs, approval matrices, and close checklists) with a focus on internal controls
- Promotes compliance and ethical standards, ensuring proper documentation and approval of exceptions.
General Duties:
- Supports month-end close activities within the department
- Assists in preparing supplier payments as required
- Provides documentation and support for internal and external audits
- Participates in meetings, assigned committees, and professional activities as required
- Attends training sessions, seminars, and professional development activities as recommended
- Performs clerical duties such as filing, organizing, and copying documents
- Prepare periodic reports as required or established
- Support in other departments and business areas as needed
- Ensures compliance with the Employee Handbook and all company policies and directives
- Performs other business-related duties as assigned according to the role
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent from a four-year college or university; or five to eight years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced computer skills (proficient in data entry/transcription at an intermediate to advanced level)
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) with intermediate reading, writing, and speaking skills in both languages
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel (intermediate/advanced), PowerPoint, and Outlook

Pay: $40,000.00 – $43,000.00 per year
