Enjoy coming to work every day in the beautiful Freeman Office Building as the Security Operations & Visitor Services Coordinator. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is seeking a customer-focused professional to be the first point of contact for visitors, employees, contractors, and the public while helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate front desk operations, visitor management, facility access, and reception services for multiple state agencies.
- Welcome and assist visitors, employees, contractors, and the public by providing exceptional customer service.
- Manage visitor check-in, temporary badge issuance, and access control processes to support facility security.
- Maintain security-related records and operational documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Partner with Facilities Management, Capitol Security, and agency staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient facility operations.
- Support a professional, welcoming environment while safeguarding the security and operational integrity of the Freeman Building and Agricultural/Health Laboratory facilities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

- Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person and via email.
- Experience using keyboarding and computer applications to prepare correspondence, maintain records, and enter data accurately and efficiently.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications (such as Outlook and Word) or other computer systems to maintain records, correspondence, and operational documentation.
Qualifications to be further assessed during the interview process:
- Experience communicating effectively in writing and verbally with customers, staff, and the public using professional language.
- Experience managing multiple priorities, organizing workload, and completing assignments accurately within established timeframes.
- Human relations skills sufficient to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a government, healthcare, laboratory, public safety, or other secure public-facing environment.
- Experience coordinating visitor management, building access, temporary badge issuance, or front desk security operations.
- Experience using visitor management systems, electronic scheduling systems, SharePoint, or other office technology to support daily operations.
- Experience working independently to prioritize workload, coordinate multiple responsibilities, and meet established deadlines.
- Experience responding to unexpected situations, resolving customer service issues, and exercising sound judgment while following established policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
This position requires occasional moving of file boxes up to 25lbs. Physical demands include lifting, standing, walking, sitting, pulling, and twisting to perform job duties.

- This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check
