Receptionist Scheduler Jobs in Yucca Valley at Desert Oasis Healthcare
Performs activities of a Receptionist as well as a Scheduler, greets, checks in patients, verifies demographics of patients, verifies insurances, updates information in computer system and collects co-payments as indicated in a friendly, efficient manner.
Professional Duties
- Greets and checks in patients. Validates patient eligibility.
- Verifies Patient Registration form is complete, assists patients if necessary with completing form.
- Completes Insurance Verification form when necessary.
- Schedules appointments.
- Stamps and forwards to appropriate staff, missed appointment charts as per policy and procedure.
- Mails missed appointment letters to appropriate individuals/members.
- Calls to confirm next day’s appointments.
- Answers telephone within 2-4 rings identifying self and Department (practice).
- Responsible for checking patient out at end of visit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Serve as an ambassador for Desert Oasis Healthcare and Family Hospice Care at all times and positively shape the customer experience
- Be knowledgeable about your job so that you can serve others effectively

- Address customers as Mr., Mrs., or Ms. until invited to do otherwise. Never use terms of endearment such as hon, dear, sweetie, etc.

- Speak clearly and use understandable language (avoid medical jargon or slang)
- Summarize key information and provide written materials whenever possible
- Validate to ensure understanding
- Use open-ended questions to engage
- Demonstrate appropriate body language and tone of voice
- Answer all phone calls with a salutation, introduction and offer to assist (Good afternoon, Desert Oasis Healthcare or Family Hospice Care, this is (your name), how may I help you?)
- Speak positively about your work, co-workers and Desert Oasis Healthcare and Family Hospice Care
- See the positive in situations and in others
- Avoid gossip and negativity
- Offer to answer any additional questions that the person, patient or customer may have
- Anticipate needs that will arise before your next meeting
- Inform patients and co-workers of how and when to contact you under normal circumstances (phone number, email, a help line, Immediate Care, etc.) or when unforeseen issues arise
- Help others, offering to assist (Ask, how may I help you?)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year in medical office setting, preferred.
- Basic physicians office practices and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
Physical Demands
- Sitting: Approximately 50% of day
- Standing: Approximately 30% of day
- Walking: Approximately 20% of day
- Lifting: 0 – 30 lbs (equipment, supplies) – approximately 30% of day
- Bending: Approximately 10% of day. Kneeling < 10%.
- Hearing/Visual Acuity: Adequate for use with computers, telephone and or Blackberry –
Approx 50% of day
- Computer: Highly technical work environment – Must be able to work ≥ 7 hours / day using keyboard, mouse and monitor
- Reaching: Above head 75 degrees – approximately 15%.
- Hand grip dexterity: Approximately 40% of day
