Dental Receptionist

Summary / Objective
The Dental Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, organized, and patient-centered experience. This position is responsible for managing front-desk operations, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance eligibility, and supporting daily administrative needs in a growing, multi-specialty dental start-up.
Expected Schedule
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Additional Hours: May be available as the practice grows.
- Schedule flexibility and final hours will be discussed during the hiring process.
Role Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and check them in and out efficiently.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and manage voicemail messages.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments to optimize the daily schedule.
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and update patient records accurately.
- Collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information.
- Perform appointment reminder and confirmation calls.
- Conduct post-operative follow-up calls as directed by the clinical team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front-desk area.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patient flow and scheduling needs.
- Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Support general administrative and operational tasks as needed in a start-up environment.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and office policies at the front desk.

- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (Open Dental) preferred.
- Basic understanding of dental insurance and scheduling workflows.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a dental or medical office preferred (entry-level candidates will be considered).
- Basic computer and phone skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Dental office front-desk or receptionist experience.
- Familiarity with insurance verification and eligibility checks.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other language) a plus.
