About Our Opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Clerk contributes to the efficient delivery of confidential programs offered by Housing Services by providing a range of administrative, clerical and financial support services.

Primary Accountabilities

A few of your key responsibilities will include:

  • accurate processing of payments for all invoices for the regions while adhering to established policies and procedures
  • processing client applications, performing data entry, and maintaining files and systems
  • providing assistance and general program information to clients and the general public
  • working in partnership with departmental employees in the effective delivery of services
  • You will also provide general office reception and back-up to other clerical staff within the District Office.

    Qualifications and Experience

    You bring with you four (4) years of related experience.

    You have a working knowledge of bookkeeping, general accounting procedures as well as accurate word processing, typing, filing and data entry skills. You also have a working knowledge of word processing software and systems, spreadsheets, and databases. You should have a good working knowledge of the policies, procedures, practices, and services offered by Housing Services.

    You must possess excellent communication and client service skills and have a proven ability to effectively deal with people in person, by phone and through online collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams and other virtual meeting platforms. Strong organizational skills and your ability to work independently as well as be an effective team player are essential to your success in this role.

    We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

  • A completed related bachelors degree
  • A completed related 2-year diploma and two (2) years of experience

    Working Conditions

    Your typical work week is 35 hours with 7 hour days. Work is performed in an office environment. Occasionally, you may need to move or lift objects such as boxes or files. You will have daily contact with the public, staff, various Government Departments, as well as other local Agencies and Institutions.

    Additional Information

    This position requires employment screening consistent with the Canada Revenue Agency’s security requirements for roles that access CRA data under a data-sharing agreement. Candidates progressing to an offer must complete both a Criminal Record Check and a Financial Credit Check.
