Facility: Federal Detention Center (FDC) SeaTac
Pay: $27/hr.
Job Location: 2425 S 200th Street, SeaTac, WA 98198
Position: Certified Pharmacy Technician
Job Duration: 12-month contract with extension possibility up to 4 years
Schedule:The contractor employee will normally provide 40 one (1) hour sessions per week, broken down as follows: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, excluding Federal Holidays. A session is defined as one (1) hour. Work hours will normally be between 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a paid on-duty 30-minute paid lunch break, but may vary and may include holidays and evenings. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. The contractor shall not normally exceed 40 hours per week but may include overtime as required.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Read and interpret prescriptions; obtain medication in proper dosage form, strength, and quantity
- Label, package, and document prescriptions accurately
- Deliver medications to patient areas while maintaining proper security
- Repackage medications and maintain required logs
- Assist with medication inventory management and ordering
- Collect drug use evaluation data for quality improvement
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment
- Review medication orders for accuracy after pharmacist review
- Assist pharmacy and non-pharmacy staff with distribution-related questions
- Monitor and restock medication inventory in patient care areas
- Educate patients on pharmacy-related topics such as refill requests
- Handle controlled substances following BOP/DEA guidelines
- Perform additional clerical or technical duties as required by the department
- Maintain compliance with BOP Health Services Manual and institutional security procedures
To be considered for this position, you should have: [Skills, Education, or Experience]
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (ASHP, ACPE, PTCB, U.S. Armed Forces, or RCW 18.64A.020 compliant)
- Current, active, unrestricted State of Washington Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to pass a drug screening and federal background investigation (NCIC, fingerprints, LE checks, OF-306, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of medication handling, inventory procedures, and clinical documentation
- Ability to work professionally in a correctional facility, including maintaining inmate safety and following all security regulations
