PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Intern supports the assigned department by performing task-oriented duties while providing administrative and operational support on campus. Divisions may include but are not limited to Communications, Outreach & Engagement;
Office of Technology Services;
Student Services;
Administrative Services;
Legal Services;
Human Resources; and academic divisions. Frequent evening and weekend hours may be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Familiarity with office software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent
* May require excellent technical knowledge of network, PC Hardware, and software
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in performing tasks
* Ability to work well within a diverse population as well as autonomously
* Ability to contribute positively to team dynamics and outcomes
* Ability to handle sensitive information
* Ability to exhibit professionalism in conduct, integrity, punctuality, and adherence to workplace expectations and policies
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is both sedentary with the employee sitting comfortably to do the work and can also require long periods of standing and lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds. May be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No additional special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
* Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
* Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
* Work is performed inside and outdoors, with exposure to dust, dirt, etc
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be at least 18 years of age or older
* Must be enrolled at LSC-CyFair a minimum of six hours college credit or pursing a certificate for the Fall and Spring semesters
* Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
* Must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing
