THE POSITION
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Seasonal Full-Time Park Resource Ranger in Crawford County. This position involves technical public safety work, including performing a variety of protective duties and interpreting park rules and regulations to ensure the safe use of recreational facilities at Pymatuning State Park. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure visitor safety by providing information, educating the public on park rules and regulations, and directing patrons away from hazardous conditions.
- Maintain up-to-date posters, bulletin boards, and signage; inspect buildings, facilities, and park grounds for safety and security concerns.
- Report rule and regulation violations to appropriate personnel and maintain public-accessible rescue equipment and first aid kits.
- Perform resource management tasks such as goose and gull harassment, goose egg addling and nest inspections, and invasive species control.
- Assist Environmental Education staff during special events, including Spooktacular, the Great Pymatuning Shoreline Clean-Up, and Onion Fest.
Visitor Services & Revenue Collection
- Use computer systems to register campers, collect fees, issue receipts, print reports, and operate the park reservation and revenue system.
- Collect various types of revenue (camping, boat mooring, launching, pavilion rentals, etc.) and issue appropriate permits.
- Reconcile daily revenue by verifying money collected against permits issued.
- Provide clerical support in the park office and contact stations as needed.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately April 2026 until October 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment April 2027.

Work schedule will vary. Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week and will include a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- This position requires all employees to obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
