Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Paraprofessional to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to support the educational and developmental needs of a specific child as assigned within a classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each child’s needs
  • Support children with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental delays, during daily activities and lessons
  • Help develop and execute engaging lesson plans focused on literacy, math, early childhood education, and social skills
  • Support the implementation of the educational program for the assigned child, ensuring active participation in classroom activities including daily activities as directed by classroom teacher and/or student’s therapy team.
  • Support the physical needs of the child’s well-being including toileting in a manner consistent with accepted procedures, dressing, feeding and other hygiene-related activities.
  • Assist in observing and evaluating the child’s progress, as directed by the teacher and other professionals.
  • Maintain behavioral management records for child in conjunction with the Behavior Management Specialist.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of the classroom, including cleaning and care of equipment and materials in accordance with NYS federal, state, local and agency guidelines.
  • Assist in safely embarking and disembarking children from buses.
  • Provide translation services between teachers and families if bilingual.
  • Actively participate in classroom team meetings to support collaboration and effective communication.
  • Perform other relevant duties and functions as assigned including but not limited to assisting with the clerical management of pupil records or providing oral/written translations assigned by classroom teacher or the pre-school director.

Skills

  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively
  • Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans for diverse learning needs while maintaining an engaging learning environment
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members, families, and specialists

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum age of 19 years; H.S Diploma or H.S. equivalency required.

Pay: $24.22 per hour
