Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and compassionate Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will assist our optometrists in providing comprehensive eye exams, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring a smooth patient
experience. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining patient records, preparing exam rooms, and educating patients about their eye health.
Key Responsibilities:
● Assist with patient intake, including taking medical histories and performing preliminary tests (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, pupil dilation).
● Conduct and document diagnostic tests such as OCT, retinal imaging, and visual field testing.
● Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked and sanitized.
● Educate patients about the tests being performed and provide clear instructions on pre-
and post-exam care.
● Record patient information accurately into the electronic medical record system.
● Provide support to the optometrist during exams and procedures.
● Help patients with frame selection and basic eyewear fittings.
● Maintain and organize equipment and supplies.
● Schedule follow-up appointments and assist in patient communication.
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in Ophthalmic or Optometric
Technology is a plus).
● Previous experience as an Optometric Technician or in a healthcare setting preferred.
● Knowledge of optical equipment and diagnostic tools.
● Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
● Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
● Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
● Ability to work as part of a team and take direction when needed.
