Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and manage appointment scheduling using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating personal information while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA privacy policies.
- Perform basic eye assessments like tonometry (measuring intraocular pressure).
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests, including visual acuity assessments.
- Operate medical equipment safely and accurately, following aseptic techniques to ensure clinical confidentiality policies are upheld at all times.
- Support the clinical team with ophthalmology-specific tasks such as physiology knowledge application, anatomy identification, and assisting with diagnostic testing related to pediatrics or general adult care.
- Manage front desk responsibilities including answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing billing and coding for insurance claims, and maintaining accurate medical records.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is appreciated; familiarity with EMR systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direct patient care with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Experience operating medical equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently at the front desk and clinical stations.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
