TxDOT
is seeking a Maintenance Support (Office Support) Technician I, II, or III to serve in an office manager role for the Johnson City Maintenance Section. This position performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office setting. Responsibilities include coordinating daily office operations, maintaining records and reports, and providing general administrative assistance to support maintenance activities. Work requires contact with private entities and regular interaction with staff and the public.

Employees at this level perform work independently on assigned duties; however, unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. This role is essential to ensuring efficient office operations that support the overall mission of the maintenance section.


This position is for
ONE Maintenance Support Tech I, II, or III. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant’s work experience, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.


Salary Plan/Grade:

  • Maintenance Support Tech I: A13:($35,439 – $52,388/yearly)

  • Maintenance Support Tech II: A15:($38,976 – $58,045/yearly)

  • Maintenance Support Tech III: A17:($42,976 – $64,469/yearly)


Minimum Salary
: 35,439.00 Maximum Salary: 64,469.00


Pay Basis
: Yearly FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Position Description

This position performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.


Essential Duties:
Responsibilities for Maintenance Support Tech I, II, or III includes:

  • Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.

  • Assists district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment.

  • Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed.

  • Edits correspondence, reports, forms, and documents for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax, style, sentence structure, content, and clarity.

  • Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and permitting activities.

  • Prepares statistical reports and verifies for accuracy and completeness.

  • Reviews, prepares and negotiates applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools and equipment and monitors contracts.

  • Processes receipts and invoices for payment.

  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

  • Maintains materials inventory.


Additional Responsibilities for Maintenance Support Tech III includes:

  • Coordinates with district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment.
  • Composes and prepares correspondence and applicable recurring or special one-time reports and confidential and sensitive communications.


Minimum Qualifications:


Education:

High School Grad or Equivalent in general education


Experience:


Maintenance Support tech I: NO
Experience Required.


Maintenance Support tech II: 1 YEAR
in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience.


Maintenance Support tech III: 3 YEARS
in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience.

(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications


Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Additional Competencies for Maintenance Support Tech III includes:

  • Communicating vision and direction of how an organization should function or a system should work under ideal conditions and conveying to others



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
