Providing credible information services to all Californians, especially those in state government and the Legislature, libraries, academia, and persons with disabilities; Leading and establishing partnerships with California libraries through funding, program development, and support; Preserving and providing access to California’s unique history to enrich the lives of current and future generations.
The State Library is home to public reading rooms including Information Services, Government Publications, the Law Library, the Braille and Talking Book Library, and the California History Room. It also plays host to Night at the State Library, annual community events like Juneteenth, the Archives Crawl, Museum Day and exhibits you won’t find anywhere else!
The Braille and Talking Book Library (BTBL) is a free service which cooperates with the Library of Congress, National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) to serve residents of Northern California who are unable to read conventional print due to a visual, physical, or organic reading disability (such as dyslexia). Talking (audio) and braille books and magazines, downloadable books and magazines via desktop or mobile app, descriptive videos, and audio playback equipment are available for loan to eligible patrons. The BTBL collection of recreational fiction and nonfiction materials reflects a public library’s collection intended for Northern Californians with print disabilities. In addition to circulating braille and audio items via mail and online, BTBL provides reader advisors and reference services.

- Statement of Qualifications – One page resume, one page Statement of Qualifications. The SOQ should be typed in 12 point single spaced Calibri, and submitted as a Word document. In the SOQ answer all of the following completely and label with their corresponding numbers. 1. Please provide a specific example of a time you had to troubleshoot technology issues. What did you do? How did you resolve the situation? You may answer with any form of technology. 2. How would you encourage safety and prevent injuries to yourself and others in a warehouse setting? 3. Describe a time when you had to do a repetitive task for an extended period. How did you ensure your accuracy?
