Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Member Services and Electoral Services for a Member Support and Electoral Services Assistant.

This varied role supports elected Members in carrying out their democratic duties, providing high‑quality administrative, diary and meeting support. You will work closely with Councillors, senior officers and external stakeholders, help coordinate civic and community events, and provide support to Electoral Services during key election periods.

The role offers exposure to senior decision‑making, committee processes and democratic governance, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden their experience or develop a career within Member Services, Elections or wider corporate support.

We’re looking for someone with strong administrative skills, confidence using Microsoft Office, and the ability to work calmly, professionally and flexibly in a busy environment. Experience of working with Members or committees is desirable, but full support and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Support elected Members with administrative tasks, diary management, and meeting preparation.
  • Provide high‑quality administrative, diary, and meeting support to council members.
  • Coordinate civic and community events.
  • Assist Electoral Services during key election periods.
  • Collaborate with Councillors, senior officers, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office.
  • Professional, calm, and flexible working style in a busy environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Members or committees.
