Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary administrative support for medical professionals, ensuring smooth office operations and exceptional patient service. Your energetic approach will help facilitate efficient appointment scheduling, accurate documentation, and effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a passion for delivering outstanding administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment.

Salary based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient scheduling using various EHR systems such as Epic, Medent, Healtheconnections and others to optimize efficient office work flow.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain and organize medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy; update patient charts and care plans accordingly.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent patient service and appointment coordination.
  • Support front desk operations by greeting patients, obtaining accurate demographic information, and handling patient inquiries with courteous phone etiquette.
  • Perform filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and general clerical duties to maintain an organized office environment.
  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations for radiology and surgical procedures, assist with billing follow-up and unpaid balances.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Experience with health information management practices aligned with HIPAA compliance.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to review documentation thoroughly and accurately.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities.
  • Adept at multitasking in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and administrative support tasks.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software. Pay: From $19.00 per hour
