Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical administrative procedures. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining accurate medical records. Your role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing a welcoming environment at the front desk.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage and process medical claims accurately, including Medicare and Medicaid submissions.
- Collect and review patient documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy for medical records.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear and courteous communication.
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including data entry and updating demographic information.
- Support medical billing processes through accurate coding using CPT, ICD-10 codes, and medical terminology knowledge.
- Manage appointment reminders and rescheduling to optimize clinic flow and patient satisfaction.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, typing reports, and using Microsoft Office applications to support clinic operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office or healthcare setting with strong front desk or administrative support skills; 3-5 Years experience minimum.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix (preferred).
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is advantageous; familiarity with dental terminology is a plus.
