Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors with enthusiasm, providing excellent customer service at the front desk
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software AthenaOne, ensuring optimal patient flow
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits through systems like Athena health platform, including insurance verification procedures
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently while maintaining accurate documentation review
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Maintain organized medical records and files in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Assist with billing procedures, including medical collection efforts and processing payments using medical billing software
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating care plans, and managing documentation review tasks
- Utilize computer skills to update electronic health records (EHR systems) in Athena Health.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office role, preferably within a clinic or dental setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Eaglesoft; experience with dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills for data entry and record management
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service, office experience, and front desk support
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance in all aspects of patient privacy and data security
- Prior clinic or hospital experience is preferred; dental clinic experience is also highly valued
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems and perform 10-key typing accurately
