Compass Government Solutions is currently recruiting qualified Medical Office Clerks to provide administrative and clerical support services at Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, California.
This position supports Emergency Department operations, patient registration, patient tracking, communications, and medical office administration in a military medical center environment.
Work Schedule
Services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday from 0000–2359 hours, including holidays. Shifts are scheduled for 12-hour periods, not including an uncompensated 30–60-minute lunch break.
In no instance will the Healthcare Worker (HCW) be required to provide services more than 80 hours per two-week period.

Job Duties:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for Emergency Department (ED) telephone and in-person inquiries
- Provide customer service and communicate patient status information to families and visitors as appropriate
- Assist patients and family members with referrals to social services, chaplains, admissions, and other support services
- Perform patient registration, admissions, pre-admission chart preparation, and demographic data entry within electronic medical record systems
- Maintain and update patient tracking systems, status boards, and disposition information
- Assist with Emergency Treatment Record (ETR) processing, chart compilation, and documentation management
- Enter physician orders for laboratory and radiology testing and retrieve patient data through medical information systems
- Coordinate communications with nursing staff, ancillary departments, on-call providers, and hospital support services
- Prepare reports, maintain logs and files, operate office equipment, and manage general clerical tasks
- Support laboratory administrative processes including specimen registration, accession tracking, report preparation, and follow-up activities
- Participate in departmental training and staff meetings to maintain operational readiness and administrative support capabilities

Experience

Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a medical office setting
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Typing proficiency of at least 50 words per minute (WPM)
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical ethics, and telephone etiquette
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong administrative and clerical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with computerized systems and electronic medical records
- Ability to enter, retrieve, and modify information accurately within healthcare systems
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
