A busy, large private physician practice has an opportunity for a full-time or part-time medical biller. We are seeking a candidate who works independently, has strong organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must be able to work well in a team environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Hospital charge and office charge entry; insurance billing and follow up
· Chart audits, resolve routine and complex account issues
· Accounts receivables, monitor delinquent accounts, patient collections
· Contact 3rd party payors to resolve payer issues
· Insurance eligiblity verification
· Review and appeal unpaid claims
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of two years experience in hospital and/or office medical billing and collections required. Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding practices.
Position has shared duties to include taking patient calls, clerical, filing, posting charges, and submitting claims to payers. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and customer service skills with the ability to quickly resolve patient claim issues. Ability to work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement. Knowledge of commercial, VA, Medicare, and Medicaid insurances and an understanding of coordination of benefits. Incumbent will have accounts receivables experience, reviewing and resolving problematic accounts.
Position requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with patients, staff, and physicians. Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment. Experience with Outlook and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) is required. Proficiency with electronic health records (EMR). Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Location: Remote or In Offce ( Norfolk, Near Sentara Leigh Hospital)
Work Conditions: Work performed in a clinical environment. Requires extended periods of sitting. Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs, and be able to twist, turn, bend and stoop.
