Medical Assistant/Receptionist for Podiatry Office Jobs in Milwaukee at Great Midwest Foot and Ankle Clinics

Summary: Responsible for supporting Great Midwest Foot and Ankle doctors in clinic operations, in delivering patient care, and ensuring that all work should be delivered to standards and procedures established in Great Midwest Foot and Ankle and procedure manual, or otherwise requested by Great Midwest Foot and Ankle doctors. we are seeking a full-time and part-time employee. The full-time candidate will perform medical assistant and reception duties along with acting as an administrative assistant to the Clinic Manager. The part-time candidate will perform medical assistant and receptionist duties. The podiatry medical office assistant is expected to perform clinical, administrative, and other tasks by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinates patient visit activities to ensure an efficient and personalized experience, which includes checking in, prepping, escorting to exam rooms, preparing exam or treatment rooms, answering questions, providing post-appointment service, monitoring the waiting room, and communicating patient specific needs and requests to the doctor. *
  • Collects patient information for medical histories and records vital signs when necessary. *
  • Explains treatment procedures as needed to patients. *
  • Prepares patients for examination, assists the physician during the examination, instructs patients about medication and other instructions, and prepares to administer medications as directed by a podiatrist. *
  • Measures for custom orthotics. *
  • Measures for diabetic shoes. *
  • Takes X-rays for podiatrists. *
  • Authorizes and telephones drug refills as directed by podiatrist. *
  • Removes sutures and changes dressings. *
  • Sets up examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment for patient visit. *
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately and ready for next patient. *
  • Tracks inventory needs. *
  • Keeps waiting room and examining rooms clean. *
  • Prepares patient for procedures, provides assistance, and documents related data in the patient record. *
  • Disinfects and sterilizes instruments. *
  • Performs and records results for various lab tests done at the clinic. *
  • Manages office emergencies. *
  • Maintains reception and greets patients. *
  • Answers phones and makes phone calls. *
  • Maintains appointment schedule and manages recalls. *
  • Prepares charts. *
  • Verifies insurances. *
  • Checks patients in and out. *
  • Updates patient files. *
  • Assures information is complete for billing insurance companies and maintains records. *
  • Answers inquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful and efficient manner. *
  • Maintains electronic medical records, including patient charts, and performs tasks including linking, uploading, and referrals in support of patient care. *
  • Collects, processes, and documents patient payments. *
  • Closes the office at the end of the business day in accordance with documented policies and procedures. *
  • Ensures patient confidentiality at all times. *
  • Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks, or special tasks as required.
  • Provides all services with a customer service lens.
  • Handles any other duties as assigned.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

  • A typical day is an 8-10 hour shift starting as early as 9am and staying as late as 7pm depending on patient volume. Are you available to work that type of shift?
  • The job responsibilities include working as a receptionist at times. Are you able to provide friendly customer service while multi-tasking?

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Language:

  • Spanish (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
