Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage the check-in and check-out process using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Collect accurate patient information, including medical history, insurance details, and reason for visit through thorough intake procedures.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to support clinical assessments.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks like medication administration, X-ray procedures, and basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate ICD coding for diagnoses.
- Support physicians during examinations and procedures in various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, or emergency medicine environments like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Manage appointment scheduling, patient correspondence, and administrative duties to optimize clinic workflow.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical-surgical practices across diverse specialties such as geriatrics, internal medicine, pediatrics (PICU), or emergency medicine.
- Experience working in hospital environments or outpatient clinics with exposure to hospital medicine or urgent care settings.
- Proficiency in EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and billing purposes.
- Ability to perform basic diagnostic tasks including taking vital signs and assisting with X-ray procedures.
- Familiarity with ICD coding standards for accurate diagnosis documentation.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including inpatient care or outpatient visits.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and emergency procedures such as Basic Life Support (BLS).
