Job Summary
The Logistics Receiver, under the direction of the Transportation Distribution Supervisor, performs daily accessioning activities, including receiving specimens, accessioning specimens, and scanning requisitions into the scan system.
Essential Functions
Receive and clock in specimens from couriers timely; verify that specimens recorded on courier logs are received.
Prioritize and sort specimens appropriately for accessioning and processing.
Perform data entry of patient demographics, clinical information, specimen source, and test orders from requisitions into computer systems; accessions specimen containers as needed.
Check test orders for medical necessity and ABN if applicable; document any orders lacking proper documentation to the supervisor.
Document all problem cases appropriately.
Scan requisitions and related paperwork into the scan system and shred documents as needed.
Review requisitions against data entry for accuracy; document errors and forward to supervisor; correct errors found.
Answer departmental phone calls and assist clients as needed.
Contribute to a positive work climate and team effort within the department and company.
Follow all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in manuals.
Perform responsibilities in accordance with industry security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect sensitive information.
Abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
