The Imports Specialist and International Receiving Coordinator manage all Ocean and Air Import Shipments and Posting Receiving.
Duties & Responsibilities
Examine customs documentation according to import compliance by US Customs and Border Protection, considering legal restrictions, country of origin, HTS Codes, and current market values.
Coordinate shipments and claims returns with Custom Brokers, Fed Ex, steamship lines, Container Companies, U.S. Customs, internal/external truckers, etc.
To avoid fees and penalties, report and provide all shipments with the necessary documentation, including ISF, to the Customs Broker on time.
Ensures that all incoming shipments are kept on a timely schedule.
Place all incoming shipments in transit upon receipt of the invoice.
Maintain communication between purchasing agent and vendor.
Assists purchasing in all inventory control phases, including tracking and acquiring compensation from all Import/Good Deal vendors for any customer returns or other credits due for vendor non-compliance to terms, purchase orders, etc.
Ensure accurate, timely, and legally compliant processing of import documentation including, but not limited to, duties, tariffs, weights, volume, and price.
Arrival notices must be requested and received by the freight forwarder before shipment arrives, revised for accuracy, and submitted to Accounts Payable for payments.
Submit payment and corresponding documents to the freight forwarder for shipment release.
Maintain a Database of all incoming shipments. (Excel File)
Upon receipt of delivery orders, check availability to schedule pick-up and coordinate delivery with the Receiving Associate.
Answer vendor, freight forwarder, and broker inquiries regarding documentation, statements, and invoices via phone, fax, and e-mail.
Assist the Quality Control Department with the freight expenses of parts rejected and incoming parts for all open claims.
Process Freight expenses.
Keep updating our inventory, posting and maintaining the record of the claims of any extra or shorter pieces received.
Provide final Invoice to Account payable without any discrepancy.
Perform other clerical duties as required, including filing, data processing, typing, etc
As part of the job, this position requires the ability to react productively to changes and handle other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
The Imports Specialist requires business and/or accounting experience; some experience in import/exports required; proficiency in Microsoft Word and excel; excellent mathematical skills; general office experience (filing, calculator, telephone, data entry, and outlook); fully bilingual English and Spanish; excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages; high standards of honesty and confidentiality; and excellent customer service skills and able to work with little or no supervision.
Pay: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
