Pay rate: $20.00 – $25.68

Position Summary

The Full-time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library.

Location

Currently at Founders Hall Library: 100 N Tryon St, Suite 290, Charlotte, NC 28202. Future location at Main Library: 310 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Schedule

Full Time, Benefit Eligible. 40 hours per week. Current:
Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00 pm. Future:
Daytime with additional evening and weekend rotation hours.

Essential Functions

  • Promote the library’s collection and services
  • Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer
  • Provide research assistance to customers
  • Utilize integrated library systems software
  • Assisting customers at several service points
  • Training and assisting customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
  • Collaborating with Librarians to deliver programming and outreach services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience:

    Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail.

  • Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted:
    Yes.

    • Work Standards: Setting high standards of performance for self; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

    Work Environment

    Works in an office setting with moderate noise and in a large urban downtown library location assisting library patrons across all socio-economic, political, racial, and gender backgrounds.
