The agency head is Secretary Janet Stanek, appointed by Gov. Kelly in Dec 2021. KDHE comprises three divisions:
Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance (which includes Kan Care). KDHE is the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof, enabling a holistic approach to the health and well‑being of all Kansans.

About The Position

KDHE’s Office of Legal Services is seeking a current law student to serve as an intern working part‑time, primarily on environmental matters and possibly on public health or general administrative law.

The intern will be responsible for researching case law, writing memos, preparing legal documents, administrative support, and hearing preparation. The position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Minimum age 18 at the time of employment
  • High school and bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to follow directions and work independently
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Attention to detail, proofreading and editing skills
