We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our Commercial Bankruptcy Group with case management, court filings, and creditor-related matters.
The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and case support to attorneys handling commercial bankruptcy and restructuring matters, including cases under Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage high-volume case activity, and familiarity with bankruptcy court procedures and filings. Even someone with some collections experience may work.
The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable working with complex financial documentation, creditor communications, and strict court deadlines.
What You’ll Do
- Assist attorneys with preparation and filing of pleadings, motions, notices, and other documents in commercial bankruptcy proceedings
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files
- Track case deadlines, hearings, and filing requirements
- Coordinate with attorneys to ensure timely preparation and submission of court documents
- Coordinate appointments and manage attorneys’ calendars
- Handle general office and administrative duties
What We’re Looking For
- Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in bankruptcy, litigation, or commercial law
- Familiarity with bankruptcy court procedures and filings
- Experience with ECF electronic filing systems
- Understanding of creditor rights, claims, and garnishment procedures is a plus
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software
Pay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
