Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lead Veterinary Receptionist to join our compassionate veterinary team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for clients and their pets, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. Your leadership skills will help coordinate front-office operations, manage client communications, and support veterinary staff in delivering exceptional pet care. Pay based on experience. Avimark experience and fluent in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily front-desk operations, including appointment scheduling, check-ins, and check-outs to ensure efficient client flow
- Lead and mentor reception staff, providing training on veterinary terminology, animal handling protocols, and customer service excellence
- Manage medical collections accurately by processing payments, insurance claims, and billing procedures with transparency and professionalism
- Coordinate communication between clients and veterinary team members regarding pet health updates, treatment plans, and follow-up care
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, medical histories, laboratory results, and procedural documentation in compliance with clinic standards
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as kennel cleaning, feeding, grooming support, and basic animal restraint when necessary
- Support veterinary critical care activities by understanding aseptic techniques, laboratory procedures, and emergency protocols for animals including dogs, cats
Requirements
- Proven experience in veterinary reception or related administrative roles within a veterinary or animal care setting
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, restraint techniques, and pet care best practices
- Experience with medical collections processes and laboratory record-keeping
- Ability to handle diverse animals confidently using proper restraint methods; dog and cat handling skills are essential
- Familiarity with kennel management, pet grooming basics, dog training techniques, and animal husbandry practices
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary critical care environments
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members; leadership qualities to guide reception staff
