HR Assistants provide essential administrative and operational support to ensure smooth HR department functions, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll, and benefits.

Core Responsibilities

Administrative Support: HR Assistants maintain employee records, HR databases, and documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements. They handle clerical tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, scheduling meetings, and managing internal communications within the HR department. Run reports and compose required documents for different business situations.

Recruitment and Hiring: Posting job advertisements; collaborating with staffing and other agencies, screening resumes, interviews, and communicating with candidates. Facilitate the onboarding process to ensure that new hires integrate smoothly into the organization.

Employee Relations: HR Assistants act as a liaison between employees and HR Manager, documenting inquiries related to company policies, benefits, and workplace concerns.

Payroll and Benefits Support: Monitors employee attendance, leave records, and payroll processing. Track leave of absences and other benefits, ensure accurate and timely compensation.

Training and Development: Supports training programs by coordinating schedules, facilitating new hire orientation and safety training sessions and maintaining training records.

Compliance and Reporting: They ensure HR processes comply with labor laws and company policies, maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information, and assist in preparing reports for HR manager or other managers.

Ensure HR processes comply with labor law and company policies that are not limited to and/or include: health and safety, worker’s compensation, FMLA, ADA, EEO, Harassment, etc.

Additional Duties: Support corporate events, and HR projects. Work in office settings; occasional travel for training.

Skills and Attributes

Must be able to use good judgment; highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong interpersonal skills; capable of multi-tasking, managing time effectively and maintaining confidentiality while supporting various HR functions.

Must be:

  • able to communicate effectively with diverse population and to get along well with others.
  • able to communicate and comprehend vendor requests and/or changes for benefit enrollments.
  • familiar with Microsoft office suite and the ability to type
  • compose reports and tables using computer software.
  • meet and/or exceed deadlines.
  • familiar with ADP.
  • able to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit professionalism.
  • punctual, dependable and able to use good judgment.
  • be willing to follow the policies and procedures.

Educational Requirement: Associate Degree (preferred); High School Diploma, required.

Experience: Three years experience in HR Generalist or Assistant.

Reports to: HR Manager

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
