JOB GOAL: The purpose of this position is to assist with the processing of leave and accommodation requests as well as worker’s compensation cases.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience (preferred)
  • Experience in HR Leave and/or Workers’ Compensation (preferred)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Leaves, Accommodations, and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Assists with all administrative aspects of Leave and Workers’ Compensation claims including tracking hours used/taken and working closely with Payroll and Benefits to ensure that pay for associates is accurate and correct.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, and medical providers regarding workers' compensation cases.
  • Files, tracks, and monitors workers’ compensation claims to ensure timely resolution.
  • Provides guidance to injured employees on the claims process, treatment options, and return to work policies.
  • Works closely with employees to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review.
  • Assists maintaining appropriate contact with all employees on leave and coordinates all aspects of return to work for associates on leave.
  • Effectively assists with the coordination all cases/claims to ensure program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Texas Worker’s Compensation Act, and all state and local policies/laws.
  • Provides exemplary customer service and assistance to all employees and requestors.
  • Performs personnel and clerical duties related to employee leave requests including but not limited to FMLA, Bereavement Leave, Emergency leave, ADA requests, and worker’s compensation.
  • Communicates with school principals and other supervisors regarding employee absences, accommodations, and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Assists in maintaining, generating, and providing statistical data relative to leave and worker’s compensation.
  • Maintains employment and other personnel records including timely and accurate updating of electronic employee databases.
  • Prepares, updates, maintains and processes a variety of records, reports, lists and files according to established policies, procedures, and regulations while ensuring the confidentiality of employee medical & benefits records is preserved.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws/regulations pertaining to leave, worker’s compensation, and other applicable laws.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Strong customer service, attention to detail, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to use computer including software, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to analyze data

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
  • Light travel is required.
