Full-time Medical Receptionist (Monday-Thursday 8-5)(Must know insurance)(2 yr experience required) Jobs in Waukee at Fusion Foot and Ankle

Seeking a Receptionist who has worked with Insurance and understands how to check for active insurance (electronically via BCBS, VA, Availity, UHC, Medicare portals), understands copays, coinsurance, deductibles, etc and in-network/out of network insurance benefits. Able to schedule patients, call patients, works collections, patient accounts, prior authorizations, checking insurance benefits, chart updates, referrals, documentation, working with billers, updating spreadsheets with payments, taking payments from patients and the mail and getting them recorded and off to the biller. Understanding Excel, Word, Emailing is a must with proper grammar and spelling. Will be crossed trained as a medical assistant; trained on x-rays of the feet should assistant be out and you need to cover. With this position you will travel between the two offices: Waukee and South Des Moines near the airport. Needs to follow directions, be organized and able to complete tasks on a timely manner as directed by employer and able to multi task. Required to be on time to work.

Position is open immediately. Interviews may be held via Indeed’s Interview Portal similar to Zoom either Tuesday or Wednesday this week. Wanting someone to start Thursday this week. 7/23/2026.

Working Hours: Monday 7:50-5:00 (Waukee), Tuesday 7:50-11:30 (Waukee) and 1:30-4:30 (South Side), Wednesday 8:30-4:30 (South Side), Thursday 7:50-5:00 (Waukee). **reliable transportation is required to be to work on time.**

Pay: Starting pay $18.00 with a review at 90 days.

Requirements:

Reception experience for minimum of 2 years

Must understand (without training) insurance: Checking Insurance Benefits, using electronic portals, PAs, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, OPMs.

Self-motivated and reliable-On time is a must as patient’s check in early

Independent and very organized

Take instruction and carry out without cutting corners.

Organization is a must when working with our different databases and EHR.

Efficient- catches on to tasks easily without much instruction, and someone who can effectively learn and utilize new skills

Must display a professional appearance- Professional dress/ready for work/look professional. Tattoos and facial piercings must not show while at work. Do not come looking like you just got out of bed.

Must pass a background check. If you have a criminal history; do not apply for this position; you will not be hired.

Duties:

Insurance benefit look up and documentation

Scanning documents, gathering demographic info and insurance info, answering phone, scheduling patients

Faxing medical records, scanning medical records

Referrals and Thank-yous

Assessing copays and coinsurance and what the exact amount is needed to be collected along with understanding collections with delinquent accounts and calling to collect payment.

Getting consents signed, scanned and collecting deposit when needed.

Working with a biller

Emails, excel spreadsheets, collections, calling patients, scheduling patients

Patient appointment reminders- we are old school and think calling the patient to remind them is more personable

EMR/EHR-Including scanning and using out PM system for scheduling

X-rays

Rooming Patients

Sterilization of instruments

Stocking the exam rooms/maintenance of exam room (disinfecting after each patient leaves)

Cleaning the office as needed including exam rooms

Able to communicate with Doctor and his assistant and also working independently on tasks with down time.
