Workshop Receptionist – Bradford Council
Join a team that keeps Bradford running. We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer focused Workshop Receptionist to join our experienced and close‑knit workshop team at Shearbridge Depot. Bradford Council operates one of West Yorkshire’s largest and most diverse local authority fleet operations, maintaining approximately 1,700 vehicles, which is increasing. Our fleet workshop plays a vital role in keeping the city running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience working in a busy reception or workshop environment.
- Is competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other computerised systems.
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Has good administrative and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Can work safely, efficiently, and professionally under pressure.
- Works well as part of a team and supports colleagues.
- Is reliable, adaptable, and motivated.

The Role
As the first point of contact for the fleet workshop, your duties will include:
- Receiving and processing vehicle maintenance and repair bookings via telephone and email.
- Creating job sheets and maintaining accurate records.
- Creating financial orders under the supervision of the workshop reception engineers or supervisors.
- Liaising with customers, drivers, contractors, and council services regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Supporting workshop reception engineers and supervisors with day‑to‑day administrative duties.
This is an administrative role within a busy operational workshop environment. The role requires a proactive approach with the ability to respond to changing priorities and service demands. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and problem solving – your skills will directly contribute to assisting our busy fleet workshop keep essential council services operating safely and effectively for the residents of Bradford.
