Overview
Dog Trainer / Front Desk Associate Jobs in Springfield, VA at Zoom Room
This is not your typical dog training job.
At Zoom Room, we don’t just teach basic obedience—we build real training skills, educate owners, and create lasting relationships with our clients and their dogs. Our team is knowledgeable, supportive, and holds a high standard for both training and customer experience.
We’re looking for someone who can step into a hybrid role—part trainer, part front desk, and fully part of the client experience.
This is a fast-paced, high-energy environment and a great fit for someone who wants to grow in the dog training industry and work alongside a dedicated, professional team.
What You’ll Do:
- Teach and assist with group dog training classes
- Coach clients clearly and confidently (this is a people job as much as a dog job)
- Support front desk operations: check-ins, scheduling, and client communication
- Take an active role in sales—recommending training programs and confidently guiding clients to commit to the right services for their dog
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized space—including frequent mopping, vacuuming, and handling day-to-day cleaning tasks that come with working with dogs
- Be part of a team that holds high standards for both service and training
What We’re Looking For:
- Prior dog training or dog handling experience (training, daycare, boarding, etc.)
- Strong communication skills—you’re comfortable leading and educating people
- High energy, positive attitude, and a natural ability to connect with clients
- Willingness to learn and grow within a structured training environment
- Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced setting
- Someone who takes pride in doing things the right way—not the easy way
Compensation & Growth:
- Starting pay at $18/hour
- Additional earnings through teaching group classes and private sessions
- 5% commission on new client sales
- Ongoing hands-on training and mentorship from a knowledgeable, supportive team
This role is designed for growth. As you develop your skills as a trainer, instructor, and client coach, you’ll have the opportunity to increase both your responsibility and your earnings over time.
Top performers who excel in both training and client experience have the potential to earn significantly more, but this role rewards consistency, effort, and a strong ability to connect with clients.
Important Realities of the Role:
- Evenings and weekends are required
- This is a physically active job where you will be on your feet, moving heavy equipment,, and safely handling dogs of various sizes
- It can be fast-paced and occasionally chaotic
- You will be expected to sell and recommend services
- Cleaning is part of the job—this is dog training, not an office job
Why Zoom Room:
- Work alongside a knowledgeable, supportive, and dedicated team
- Develop real training skills beyond basic obedience
- Learn how to confidently lead classes, coach clients, and communicate in a way that helps owners and their dogs succeed
- Build relationships with clients and see real progress in their dogs
- Ideal for someone serious about growing in the dog training industry
If you’re just looking to work with dogs, this isn’t the role for you.
Pay: $18.00 – $26.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- On-the-job training
- Paid time off
- Professional development assistance
